Englishman, Allen was originally set to take on a high-profile fight with number 10 ranked Josh Emmett in a bid to make the push into the elite of the featherweight division. However, Emmett was forced out of the fight due to an injury picked up in training.
Lentz was already set to take on an Englishman in former Cage Warriors featherweight champion, Nad Narimani but Narimani was also forced out with an injury.
Therefore, the UFC had two spare featherweight fights both now without fights so booking the pair for a bout made sense.
Allen is currently ranked number 15 in the featherweight division and is currently riding an eight-fight win streak. Lentz, however, will be looking to rebound from a TKO loss to Charles Oliveira and is currently 3-3 in his last six bouts.
Lentz is likely to be the underdog in the bout given the pairs recent performances and, therefore, stands to gain a lot with a win over Allen.
