Dustin Poirier Refuses To Fight Jorge Masvidal, Calls Colby Covington A Sell Out

Dustin Poirier was asked about potentially facing the winner of Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal at the post fight press conference following his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242. The former interim lightweight champion responded with:

“Jorge is a buddy of mine. I don’t sell out like fucking Colby Covington; I don’t talk bad about people who I roll with. No, Jorge is a buddy of mine, I won’t fight him. He’s a training partner. He’s a good guy. If anything, I’ll go out to Florida and help him with that fight.”

The friendship between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington seems to have diminished as they both make their way towards a 170lb title shot. Things started to be a little uneasy between the two as ATT founder Dan Lambert confirmed at the end of July that they have stopped training together knowing they may fight each other soon.

The friendship between the two has taken another hit as Covington has now gone at Masvidal on Twitter after “Gamebred” showed signs of frustrations not being able to get the title shot he was after.

Poirier has even more reason to be annoyed with Covington as his ATT teammate posted a message to social media promoting people to place bets on Khabib as “Dustin can’t stuff a nosebleed, how’s he going to stuff a takedown?”

Jorge Masvidal responded to Dustin Poirier showing his appreciation for Poirier’s support.
