Reigning strawweight queen Weili Zhang and former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk have been going back and forth on social media which has prompted Dana White to step in and share his thoughts on the situation.
The situation arose as Zhang responded to a statement made by Jedrzejczyk via her official Instagram page.
“She seems very angry? Don’t worry, she will calm down. I am ready now. Call my manager or call Dana White. I’m ready.”
Dana White then shared the champions post on his own Instagram sharing his excitement for the potential matchup.
“This is going to be a VERY fun fight”
After unsuccessfully challenging Valentina Shevchenko for the 125lb title, Jedrzejczyk made a successful return to the 115lb division with a dominating display against Michelle Waterson. The Polish star will be looking to use that momentum, along with her record of the most title defences in strawweight history, to get another crack at the title.
The bout would be the Zhang’s first title defence after an impressive first round victory over Jessica Andrade saw her capture the title in front of her home crowd.
The bout between the two stars appears to sell itself and with both fighters and the UFC seemingly on board it looks as though we may see the strawweight showdown in early 2020.
