It looks like Paddy Pimblett’s much anticipated return to competition will have to be delayed after opponent, Joe Giannetti, missed weight.

Giannetti missed weight by 7.7lbs hitting the scales at 163.7lbs whereas Pimblett made the lightweight limit hitting 154.9lbs.

Immediately after the weigh-ins there were signs that the bout wouldn’t continue as Pimblett tweeted his frustrations with Giannetti’s lack of effort to cut anymore weight. Pimblett stated that if Giannetti had made more of an effort to cut weight and at least get down to 160lbs then the fight may have went ahead.

Giannetti fired back at Pimblett suggesting that no offer of a compromise was made and that he tried his best to make the weight as he weighed 184lbs just nine days ago when he accepted the bout.

Giannetti also responded to Pimblett’s claims that he was trying to gain an advantage by stating he was taking the fight on nine days’ notice.

After the Twitter back and forth, Cage Warriors officially announced the fight had been pulled from the card due to Giannetti missing weight.
