Jai Herbert Set To Defend Lightweight Title In Birmingham

Cage Warriors have confirmed that lightweight champion, Jai Herbert, is set to defend the title in his hometown at the World Resorts Arena in Birmingham at Cage Warriors 109 on the 26th October.

Herbert picked up the lightweight title in his last victory over Jack Grant at Cage Warriors 106 and improved to 9-1 in MMA and 4-0 in Cage Warriors. Jack Grant has also been confirmed for the card as has Dean Trueman who will be looking to bounce back from losing his featherweight title to Mads Burnell at Cage Warriors 106. Also confirmed for the card are Michael Younis and Chris Miah, another two Birmingham based fighters with Miah making his debut for the promotion as well.

Herbert displayed tremendous striking in his lightweight title win over Grant leading to a standing TKO stoppage as Grant was out on his feet. Should he notch a dominant title defence at Cage Warriors 109 it would be hard to deny him a shot in the UFC in the near future.

Speaking to Cage Warriors, Herbert said “I’m buzzing to be fighting back in the Midlands, it’s been over two years now since I last fought in Birmingham, and what a way to make my return by defending my title back here in front of my home fans. The arena is going be bouncing!”

Herbert’s opponent, as well as the rest of the fight card, still has to be announced but with Herbert topping the bill the event is already shaping up to be a good one.
