As with most MMA promotions during COVID-19, Cage Warriors was forced to take a break from their schedule.
Cage Warriors were planning a promotional record 15 events this year, but the promotion was forced to put some events on hold as we entered the lockdown.
However, the 15 events could still be a possibility as the promotions President, Graham Boylan, announced yesterday via Twitter that Cage Warriors is coming back with a bang. Boylan announced that the promotion has booked three back to back show for one week at some point during September.
The President then amusingly told all the fighters to go and contact the Cage Warriors matchmaker, Ian Dean, which must have led to a good few back to back calls.
“It’s booked. Sept Thurs, Fri & Sat Night LIVE. Rostered Fighters go blow Ian Dean’s phone up. Tell him I said hi.”
The official date and venue remain to be seen but the tweet also suggests that Cage Warriors are planning to hold the event with a live audience. Lockdown restrictions are being released in the UK gradually with further reductions being introduced on the 4th July so it’s possible that live events could be allowed by September.
With some of the events being missed, Cage Warriors will likely have a lot of fighters raring to go and some great matchups to be made.
