The second meeting between Cal Ellenor and James Gallagher was supposed to go down at Bellator Dublin on February 22nd however Gallagher was forced out of the fight with an injury.

The first time the pair were scheduled to fight Ellenor was forced off the card as a result of a strange issue appearing on his brain scan. The fight has now been rebooked for a third time as the main event at Bellator London on 16th May.

However, Cal “Pacino” is spoke to Peter Carroll on the Eurobash podcast and discussed his scepticism for just how injured Gallagher was.

“He said on your podcast that he couldn’t even lift his gym bag up, but then the day after he pulled out there’s a photo of him on his Instagram with his gym bag on his shoulder, so I thought that was a bit ridiculous.

And then to see him parading about Bellator Dublin like a peacock on Saturday, jumping all over when the fights were on when he’s supposed to be fighting anyway and he’s pulled out with an injury.”

Ellenor also revealed that it was planned for the fighters to enter the cage in between the co-main and main event to do a faceoff and some interviews to build the Bellator London fight. However, that faceoff never happened and Ellenor said that Gallagher left without doing the interview.

“What was also meant to be happening was, in between Charlie Ward and the main event, we were meant to be getting in the cage. I felt, for someone who always goes on about his fans, it was a bit shitty that he didn’t get in there. We were supposed to do a little interview in there. Obviously, he was main event there, and he chose not to do that and left.

I thought that was a bit shit, but aside from that, I just wanna fight him now. It’s just one of them things when you’ve thought about someone for that long, I just want to put the nail in the coffin.”

When asked if he truly believes Gallagher was fit to fight, Ellenor went on to cite more of Gallagher’s actions after withdrawing from the contest.

“If he’s genuinely injured, it is what it is, but to see him, I didn’t think he looked injured. When we did our face off, it didn’t stop him putting his hands up. The day he pulled out he was doing selfie videos in his car, he looked fine.

To see him jumping about when Kiefer Crosbie was fighting on Saturday night, that looked like a man who could fight to me. If you can jump about like an idiot, you can certainly have a fight. It looks like he’s blagging it.”

As frustrating as it has been for Ellenor to have to wait so long for the fight he does concede that a positive of the situation is that it’s only generated more interest in the fight. However, he is just ready to get in there and have a fight now and admits that Gallagher is probably feeling the same way.

“I feel like it’s got loads more interest now. People just want to see it get done, and the longer it’s actually taking to happen, the more it’s winding me and James up. I think he’s probably the same as me. I’m sick of having to prepare for him and he’s probably the same as me, so that’s why I think it’s a bit different now.

I just want to fight, I’m sick of having to see him or having to talk about him. I just want to fight now.”
