Bellator 241 Postponed Due To Coronavirus

Pitbull vs. Carvalho Fight Poster

Earlier this week Bellator released a statement stating that tonight’s Bellator 241 show would go ahead as planned but would remain behind closed doors with no fan attendance due to growing concerns around coronavirus.

However, Bellator have now changed their mind and postponed the event until further notice. Bellator President Scott Coker confirmed the postponement of the event via his social media following an initial report from Fightful MMA.

All of the fighters had already weighed in for the event and were ready to fight when the event was called off on the day of the fight. Coker expressed his apologies to the fighters, fans and broadcasting partner but said that the decision is for the best.

The event was going to be headlined by featherweight champion Patricio Freire defending his title against Pedro Carvalho in a continuation of their ongoing featherweight grand prix. Daniel Weichel vs. Emmanuel Sanchez was booked for the co-headliner in the other grand prix quarter finals.

Currently there has been no announcement from Bellator to say when the event will be rescheduled for.
